Granchildren

Now that the spring-to-summer dust has settled, I'm back! (I also have another blog, booklovinggrandma.blogspot.com.)

I'm in the middle of taking some professional development courses now in the effort to bring my librarian skills up to the 21st century. I've already learned about some incredible informational sites. Check out both blogs for more info and, of course, more ideas for great reading!

Sorry for the repeat posting!

I guess I was so caught up in the miracle of technology I wanted to duplicate it!

The Miracle of Technology

Everything is a miracle, and technology is no exception. How else can you explain taking a picture with a telephone that fits into the palm of your hand and sending it to many people within seconds? Or typing in an address anywhere in the world and seeing a detailed birds-eye view of the location? I could go on and on, but I'm sure you can think of many examples of your own.

Spring into reading!

The third day of spring is showing signs of the season--sunshine, warmth, and the appearance of flowers in our back yard. This combination, naturally, puts me in the mood for some season-appropriate reading. For the picture-book set, there's the Caldecott-Award-winning favorite Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes, and Silly Little Goose! by Nancy Tafuri, plus the ingenious Spring Is here, by Taro Gomi.

The chapter-book crowd will find many books perfect for a balmy afternoon. Some of my favorites are The Penderwicks and The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall, Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock (a delightful fairy tale for older readers), Mallory on the Move and sequels by Laurie B. Friedman, and the Emma Dilemma books by Patricia Hermes.

Even book-lovers have to face another aspect to this lovely season--Pesach cleaning! I guess my reading will have to wait until a bit later.

See you among the pages.

Spring is in the air!

Spring is a time for new beginnings, so it's a perfect time to launch my new blog. I'll be talking about my favorite subjects: my grandchildren, books, nature, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

I learned about a great website that is dedicated to the ideal of fair and honest reporting and information about Israel:
<http://www.theisraelproject.org. Check it out.

See you on the Web!
